Fidel Castro: Washington and Israel Turned The Apartheid Regime in South Africa into a Nuclear Power

HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 19

fidel y mandelaIn his most recent article, Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro addresses passages of the historic fight against Apartheid in Africa, the long-standing struggle of Nelson Mandela and the Cuban participation in the liberation of African nations, and he recalls that Washington and Israel turned the Apartheid regime into a nuclear power.

Why do they try to hide the fact that the Apartheid regime, which inflicted that much suffering on Africa and caused indignation in most nations of the world, was the result of Colonial Europe and was turned into a nuclear power by the United States and Israel, which Cuba, a country that supported the Portuguese colonies that fought for independence, openly condemned?

Fidel asks in his article entitled “Mandela has Died, Why hide the truth about Apartheid? Fidel says that no other present or past development that he may recall or has heard of, such as the death of Mandela, had such a strong impact on world public opinion, and this was because of Mandela’s human qualities and his noble sentiments and ideas.
Referring to the developments that put an end to Apartheid in Africa, Fidel recalled that in 1975 and 13 years before the Cuito Cuanavale battle, racist troops departed from Namibia and made their way into Angola near the capital Luanda, where Cuban special troops and tank units counterattacked and thwarted the offensive.

President Ronald Reagan had authorized the handing over to South Africa of the nuclear weapons

The South African troops chased Angolan forces in direction to Cuito Cuanavale, a former NATO military base, some 100 kilometers from the location of a Cuban tanks brigade, and in that minute, Angolan President asked Cuba for support, which was given immediately.
The Cuban and Angolan contingent counterattacked and the enemy weakened and began to withdraw. So the Cuban forces prepared for other combats in the western part of the country. But the problem was, Fidel recalls that the South African racists had between 10 and 12 nuclear weapons, according to calculations by Cuba.

President Ronald Reagan had authorized the handing over to South Africa of the nuclear weapons and among the equipment given by Israel was the necessary equipment to blast the nuclear weapons. But when the South African troops began to use the 140-millimeter cannons, Russian combat aircraft manned by Cubans made a strong impact on their forces and the news came that the enemy was willing to sit at the bargaining table.

Mister President, I am Castro

We had put an end to a racist imperialist adventure in a continent that will have more inhabitants than China in 30 years from now.

After saying this Fidel, stressed the role of the Cuban delegation that attended the funeral services for Nelson Mandela and he went on to congratulate Raul Castro for his brilliant participation and for his firmness and dignity when with a kind and firm gesture he greeted US President Barack Obama with the phrase in English: “Mister President, I am Castro.”

Fidel said that when his health conditions limited his physical activity he did not hesitate a minute about who, in his opinion, could assume the responsibility. One lifetime only uses a minute of the history of the people’s, I think that who assumes such responsibility today will require the experience and authority necessary to choose among a growing and nearly infinite number of variants.

Imperialism will always keep several cards to make our island yield, even if they have to depopulate it and deprive it of his young men and women by offering scraps of the goods and natural resources that the United States takes from the world, Fidel notes and conclude by saying that the spokesmen of the Empire can now say how and why Apartheid was born.
