Special Communiqué from the ACS Summit on Venezuela

At the close of the 7th ACS Summit in Havana, a special communiqué was presented in support of the Bolivarian government of Venezuela

We, the Heads of State and/or Government of the Member States of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) meeting in Havana, Cuba, on June 4, 2016, to celebrate its Seventh Summit:

7th acs summit havana 2016 3.jpgReaffirming the provisions of the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, adopted at the Second Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), held in Havana in January 2014;

Noting the dialogue efforts promoted by the government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, accompanied by UNASUR:

Support the initiative of the Presidents José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero of Spain, Leonel Fernández of the Dominican Republic and Martín Torrijos of Panama, for the reopening of an effective dialogue between the government and the opposition in order to find ways to encourage political stability , social development and economic recovery of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela;

Also support the various initiatives of national dialogue that will lead, in conformity with the Constitution and full respect for human rights, in a timely manner, to a prompt and effective solution to differences and the consolidation of democracy;


Support all efforts for understanding, dialogue and constitutional procedures.
