The Revolutionary Government of the Republic of Cuba has repeatedly denounced the parliamentary-legal state coup, disguised as legality, which has been brewing for months in Brazil. Today consummated a fundamental step for the putschists goals. The majority of the Brazilian senators decided to continue the process of impeachment against the legitimately elected President Dilma Rousseff, and thus removed her “provisionally” from office for a period up to 180 days; the Senate must decide, by a vote of two thirds of its members, the final dismissal.
An armed artifice
This is actually an armed artifice by sectors of the oligarchy in that country, supported by the great reactionary press and imperialism, in order to reverse the political project of the Workers Party, overthrow the legitimate government and usurp power that they could not win through the electoral vote.
Part of the reactionary counter-offensive of imperialism
What happens in Brazil is part of the reactionary counter-offensive of imperialism and the oligarchy against the revolutionary and progressive governments in Latin America and the Caribbean, which threatens peace and stability of nations, contrary to the spirit and letter of the Proclamation Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, signed at the Second Summit of CELAC in January 2014 in Havana by heads of state and government of the region.
Towards the restoration of cruel neoliberal policies
As stated by the President of the Councils of State and Ministers of the Republic of Cuba, Raul Castro Ruz, at the close of the sixth regular session of the National Assembly of People’s Power on December 29: “History shows that when the right becomes the government, it dismantles social policies to benefit the rich, restores cruel neoliberalism and applies shock therapy against workers, women and young people. ”
The Brazilian people, political forces of left and combative social movements in that nation have rejected the coup and will oppose any attempt to dismantle important social programs developed by the governments of the Workers Party with Lula and Dilma as head; programs such as “Bolsa Familia”, “More Doctors,” “My House-My life” and “Zero Hunger” which changed the lives of tens of millions of people in that country.
Dilma, Lula, the Workers Party and the people of Brazil have and always will have all the solidarity of Cuba.
