Match 20 2016
The Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro Ruz held a friendly meeting this Saturday, March 19, with the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, as his official visit to the island came to a close.
Earlier President Maduro was awarded the nation’s highest medal by Cuban President Raul Castro (watch video here).
In receiving the award President Maduro stated “ I receive this medal with great honour although I do not deserve it yet. I receive it as a pledge of loyalty to the ideals of our founders, of loyalty to Fidel and Chavez, loyalty to the glorious ideals that our people have stood for and that are respected today by all of humanity.”
Cuba’s opposition to US decree declaring Venezuela a “threat”
A week ago, Raul and Cuban foreign minister Bruno Rodriguez met with Venezuelan foreign minister Delcy Rodriguez in Havana, to offer solidarity over the renewed U.S. decree declaring her country a “threat.”
Raul reiterated his rejection of the executive order of U.S. President Barack Obama, and offered unconditional support of the Cuban people to Venezuela and the government of President Nicolas Maduro.
He also expressed his support for the civilian-military union of the Venezuelan state, that, according to the Cuban president, fights to maintain peace, constitutional order, and the gains of the Bolivarian Revolution.
