Tomorrow, August 13, 2015 Fidel Castro, the leader of the Cuban revolution will celebrate his 89th birthday. People throughout the world have great respect and admiration for Fidel because they know that he has led a courageous, principled and heroic life-long struggle for over 50 years against a brutal empire that has destroyed many democracies.
Fidel has survived hundreds of assassination attempts, while Cuba has been subjected to terrorism of all forms including chemical and biological warfare. As stated by the Vancouver Communities in Solidarity with Cuba, “He (Fidel) has provided a model of the kind of revolutionary leadership that could make it possible for humanity to advance and to achieve highest moral integrity.
“In Cuba, and elsewhere in the world, millions of people will participate in block parties and cultural celebrations of his birthday”
In Jamaica, the Friends of Cuba and the Jamaica Cuba Friendship Association as well as other solidarity groups which together form the Jamaica Cuba Solidarity Network will celebrate yet another birthday of the great and extraordinary World and Cuban Revolutionary Leader, Comrade Fidel Castro, at the PCJ building in New Kingston.
Also, in Westmoreland, Jamaica, the Association of Clubs will highlight the achievements of Fidel and the Cuban revolution at a meeting at the Petersfield Community Club.
