In defiance of provincial laws that criminalize protests, tens of thousands flooded the streets of Montreal, Quebec to protest austerity measures proposed by the Liberal government. Quebec was also the site of a months-long student strike in 2012 against proposed tuition increases for colleges and universities. With the new government proposing increases, students are once again at the forefront of the mobilizations.
